About James Strider

Sifu James Strider

Born in 1973, James has been practicing Chinese martial arts since the age of 14. Starting off with classical WuShu in the UK at the age of 14, he was fortunate enough to have been exposed to Chen style Taijiquan at the age of 16, learning the Chen village Lao Jia Yilu and Erlu sets over 4 years.

Over the next 12 years James trained in Wing Chun, Muay Thai, Jeet Kune Do, Eskrima and Western Boxing, before finally returning to his Chen style practice when he met and trained under Grandmaster Feng Zhiqiang for 16 days in 2004 in Holland, learning his Chen Style Xinyi Hunyuan Taijiquan 24 and 36 sets.

With his passion for Chen Taijiquan reignited, James met and trained with a new group led by Master Chen Liangshen on a weekly basis in Amsterdam, whilst running his own classes in Utrecht.

It was under the invitation of Master Chen that Master Chen Zhonghua came to Europe for the first time in 2006 and held a    workshop in Holland, primarily teaching the Hunyuan system but also introducing James to the Practical Method of Grandmaster Hong Junsheng for the first time.

James was immediately hooked and has been practicing the    Practical Method since then, becoming a 20th Generation Chen Style   Disciple under Master Chen Zhonghua in 2013 and following him around the globe, having trained in Holland, Czech Republic, Singapore, Australia and China.

James is now located permanently in both Perth, Australia and Rizhao, China, teaching, training and working full time for Master Chen in various capacities.
